Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thanks and three cheers to our valued members and friends for a job well done in 2022!

As we roll into the holiday season and head to the beach spare a thought for the grasses and trees that hold the dunes, providing habitat for wildlife and shade for all. As we relax in these beautiful surrounds it’s also timely to consider the increased pressure faced by birds and sea-life that share our shorelines.
Did you know that there are over 500 Coastcare groups across Australia with volunteers like us caring for beaches?
We were both surprised and delighted recently when Landcare Australia selected our photo to spearhead the annual Coastcare Week and “Summer Into Coastcare” campaign.
The photograph above of our volunteers was taken at the official launch of the Melaleuca Wetlands Weed Control Project on World Wetlands Day 2020. Coastcare embarked on the project supported by Healthy Land and Water in 2019 through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare program to undertake weed reduction and rehabilitation as part of an effort to protect threatened species and Ramsar values.
