Celebrating NAIDOC on Coochiemudlo Island

Coastcarers enjoyed a wonderful cultural walk led by Quandamooka woman, Elisha Kissick recently to celebrate NAIDOC.

After an inspiring Welcome to Country, Elisha introduced us to bush foods with their beneficial and medicinal qualities. A walk through the Melaleuca Wetlands followed before a sumptuous morning tea inspired by native flavours.

Then it was down to work for a weeding session in the wetlands.

Thanks to all who participated at short-notice as rain had forced postponement from previous dates and especially Conservation Volunteers Australia for organising the event.
